Analyzing the research data before writing the conclusion of your research work is very important. However, the researchers should make sure that they have provided their research findings with the help of the best statistical analyzing tool. Generally, the research findings are given in the fourth chapter of your research project. Here, we are going to discuss the benefits of using the SPSS software in your dissertation analysis and how to perform a regression analysis.

What is SPSS?

SPSS is the abbreviated form of Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. It is generally a set of software programs that are used for batched as well as non-batched statistical data analysis. This software is explained with the simplest information and can easily perform complex data manipulation. Not only this, but it also has the potential to collect data from every file type and then utilize them to produce charts, tabulated reports, descriptive statistics, and many more.

Now, what are the advantages of using SPSS?

The advantages of analyzing data with the help of SPSS software are as follows:

  • Not much effort is needed for the researcher to use this software.
  • Even the time required for analyzing the data with the help of SPSS is comparatively less than any other statistical tool.
  • It is beneficial for both types of data, quantitative as well as qualitative.
  • The users get the freedom of selecting a preferable graph type that matches the requirements of their data distribution.
  • The possibility of the occurrence of errors is minimum with the use of SPSS.

What is the regression analysis?

Regression analysis is simply a way to sort out mathematical variables that have an impact on your research work. It is generally used by the people to comprehend the actual relationship between the interdependent and dependent variables that remain stored in the data files.

Here we have taken ‘weight’ and ‘height’ as dependant and independent variables for this regression analysis. We have incorporated various data in this chart.

Not only this, but it also determines how the alterations in the interdependent variables affect the value of the dependent variable. In a nutshell, people use it to understand the relation type between various kinds of variables. Regression analysis is of two types- Linear Regression Analysis and Multiple Regression Analysis.

How to perform Regression Analysis?

  • Firstly, tap on “Analyze” then navigate to “Regression” to choose “Linear”.
  • A dialogue box of “Linear Regression” will appear where you need to enter the dependent variable to the dependent box and the independent variable to the independent box by clicking on the “Right arrow” and then press the “Statistics” button. You can simply ignore other boxes.
  • After clicking on the Statistics button a linear regression statistics box will pop-up on the screen. From that box, select Estimates, Confidence Intervals, and Model Fit column keeping the level (%) at 95.
  • Then tap on the “Continue” button. You will go back to the Linear Regression box.
  • Simply tap on the “Ok” option to get your desired result.

[N.B: Here R square is the ‘Regression Coefficient’]

Overall, this is all about using SPSS. We hope this above-mentioned will be of great help to you for analyzing the data by using this software. So, what are you waiting for? Make your data finding perfect with SPSS now.
